Classical education sometimes seems synonymous with studying Latin. But why? Why do classical educators insist on learning Latin? for grammatical training? to understand many medical and legal terms?
What if the goal were Latin itself? Just as English speakers learn French today to directly access the literature and culture of the French-speaking world, can the great body of Latin work be accessed? Is it feasible to acquire Latin as a meaningful language, when no native speakers still exist? Can teachers and parents who do not already speak Latin effectively lead their students into Latin?
This webinar will explore these questions, illustrate the differences between learning about Latin and acquiring Latin, and offer suggestions for educators looking to acquire Latin with their students.
Can't make it live? This webinar will be recorded and sent out to registrants.
