"And it is by the place we’ve got, and our love for it and our keeping of it, that this world is joined to Heaven.” - Wendell Berry
Most agree that hours spent in the outdoors is good for children. Yet how many of us feel intimidated, unqualified, or just plain uninterested when faced with these outings? Often we ourselves have lost our own sense of wonder and ability to attend to the natural world, so how can we cultivate it in our children and students?
This six week course seeks to provide parents and teachers with an understanding of the importance of natural history and nature studies as a foundational element in preparing students for a classical education. This course will also equip you with simple, practical tools and skills to guide children in attending deeply and developing, growing, and maintaining the "sixth sense of wonder."
You may find your own sense of wonder being expanded in the process!
