In this summer course, Tonya Rozelle will offer an introduction to The Lost Tools of Writing. Designed to help you teach your students, this LTW class for adults will model the teaching process, while also helping you improve your own writing and thinking. This webinar-style class will engage a group of participants as models for a classroom. These sessions will reveal the ancient truths behind the LTW program while at the same time enable you to teach effectively and powerfully on a day-to-day basis. She will reveal how to solve the three problems all writers face, the questions that make for the kind of deep thinking that leads to good writing, and why writing doesn't need to be a stressful or intimidating process.
This shortened summer course will include the big picture of LTW, some difficulties students and teachers encounter, and sample lessons. Over the course of six weeks, we will meet weekly for two hours online. She will provide a thorough introduction to the tools as well as the teaching of the tools. All essays will be covered during the six-week period, which is twenty-four weeks of lessons in just six weeks! Join us for this new opportunity to learn The Lost Tools of Writing from June 30th to Aug 11th, skipping the week of the National Conf (no meeting July 21) on Wednesdays from 10 am - 12 pm ET. While this class is called an intensive for a reason, Tonya will keep you connected to the big picture of LTW while shining light on individual lessons.
Reading The Lost Tools of Writing Teacher's Guide introduction, Essay One, and appendices is required prior to class. Reading, writing, and teaching individual lessons before or during the class weeks is also helpful.
