Each tale of the Round Table is suffused with alluring magic, but the legend's most enduring mystique arises from Arthur's mysterious end. After a virtuous golden reign, the king of Camelot receives a fatal wound on the battlefield, betrayed by his ambitious nephew, his divided knights, and his faithless queen. But Arthur's death is not the end - as the dying king sails to Avalon, he promises to return someday to restore his beloved land, and that prophecy has permeated Western literature ever since.

In this webinar, Heidi White will explore King Arthur's messianic death and promised return. Drawing from the Arthurian legend's source texts and the resulting literary heritage, particularly in Great Britain, this webinar will examine the abiding legacy of King Arthur as Western Culture's once and future king.
