The Aeneid - 90 Minutes With The Classics Webinar

Tuesday, December 17, 2019 - 4:00pm to 5:30pm

When: December 17, 4:00-5:30pm EST
Where: Online
Cost: Only $10!

Is the Aeneid simply a re-telling of Homer's two epics? Not exactly. While he does profit from Homer, Vergil weaves a new story outlining the Roman ideal of man, the city, and civilization.

In opposition to our modern affair with the individual and the attempt to limit our understanding of what it means to be human by situating personal identity within an artificial construct, Vergil casts a vision of man that extends beyond these conventional boundaries.

In this webinar, we will look at Vergil's story of Aeneas noting how the structure of the poem and the beauty of the language overlap to form an image of Humanitas that transcends the limits of time and space.

• The seminar will be recorded; however, you must sign up before December 17 to have access to it. Registration will be cut off at 2:00pm (EST) on December 17.

• Please note that login information for the seminar will be sent an hour before the seminar (December 17).
