St. Peter Prince of the Apostles Catholic School, a parish school within the Archdiocese of San Antonio, announces the renewal of this 90 year old community within the Classical Liberal Arts Tradition: A renewed school within a storied tradition—at the heart of the Church. The school seeks an Assistant Head of School to help shape and form the culture of the faculty and students. Under the leadership and direction of the Head of the School and under the care of the pastor of the parish, the key duties of the Assistant Head of School will be: To create and nurture a faculty culture of faith and friendship centered on the love of Christ and the pursuit of Truth, Goodness, and Beauty. To strengthen this culture of faith and friendship by participating in faith formation and by shaping and leading seminar discussions on Good and Great works of literature To coach faculty members to be excellent teachers, especially in the development of their abilities to foster joyful order in their classrooms and employ Socratic questioning To form students and call them to virtuous living through the implementation of an intentional discipline policy To teach a partial load of courses (if speciality is in 6-8) or part-time lead (if speciality is K-5). Teaching assignments can be discussed. Requirements: Applicants must be practicing Catholics in good standing with the Church Teaching experience (whether parochial, charter, or private) (3+ years) Leadership experience within a classical school could be a benefit but is not required A commitment to the classical liberal arts approach to education and a humble but unapologetic desire to joyfully pass on the fullness of the Faith and the treasures of Western culture to the young is an absolute necessity This renewal effort will require a kind of missionary zeal. Do you deeply believe this approach to education is what Christ's schools need? Are you willing to be a patient and sometimes suffering servant in a community of friendship which helps bring this to the Church of San Antonio? Nolite timere! St. John Paul II, pray for us!
