Job Description St. Michael Academy, a Catholic Classical Academy in Petoskey, Michigan in the Little Traverse Bay region, is looking for a brilliant, energetic, and faith-filled educator to teach one section of a high school Choral Music/Music History course. The course meets second semester (27 January – 29 May 2020) Monday – Friday from approximately 8:45 a.m. – 9:45 a.m. The incumbent will also be responsible for working throughout the entire year with our Mass Choir, who sings twice a week at Mass, from 11:15 a.m. – 12:00 noon on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The incumbent will also work with the principal to plan and execute special all-school music performances during the Christmas Holiday and other seasons throughout the liturgical and school calendar. The ideal candidate will possess both teaching experience and a commitment to the Magisterium of the Catholic Church. As a growing Catholic high school that employs both the Trivium and the Quadrivium, we are interested in attracting candidates with a passion for integrated, interdisciplinary learning that produces “Smart Saints” - who can spread the Gospel effectively and pursue their professional and spiritual vocations with zeal and aplomb. Enrollment dependent, the incumbent would be considered for more teaching assignments, to include full-time status if warranted, the following academic year. Qualifications • College Degree in Music Required. A Specialty in Choral Music and Music History Preferred. • Three Years High School Teaching Experience Preferred, But New Teachers Encouraged to Apply. • Practicing Catholic Preferred. • Commitment to the Magisterium Required.
