JOB ANNOUNCEMENT – HIGH SCHOOL ART Job Description St. Michael Academy, a Catholic Classical Academy in Petoskey, Michigan in the Little Traverse Bay region, is looking for a brilliant, energetic, and faith-filled educator to teach three to four combination Art History/Studio Art courses in our rigorous and inspiring Chesterton Network Fine Arts Curriculum. The position would commence August 16, 2021. The St. Michael core curriculum is dedicated to propagating the harmony of faith and reason, and features an integrated and interdisciplinary approach to learning in general, which also encompasses the fine arts. Students are shepherded through the primary eras of secular and sacred art history, with 9th grade focused on the classical civilizations of Greece and Rome; 10th grade on the medieval world of Christendom; 11th Grade on Renaissance and Enlightenment European culture; and 12th grade on Modern Art and Photography. Each grade has its separate art curriculum and meets twice a week, with one session devoted primarily to Art History, and the other on Studio applications. Classes are enrollment driven, so there is a possibility that one or more grades will be combined. The incumbent will also be asked to provide service to the entire high school, teach an introductory art course in our emerging junior high classical enrichment program, and be the faculty advisor of our extracurricular Art Club. Qualifications • Bachelor of Arts in Art; M.A. Preferred. • Three Years Teaching Experience Preferred, but New Teachers Encouraged to Apply. • Ability to Teach a Wide Variety of Courses a Plus. • Ability to Coach Also a Plus. • Practicing Catholic and Commitment to the Magisterium Required.
