St. Mary Catholic School is seeking a dynamic, joyfully Catholic middle school English and Literature educator to inspire students to discover what it means to be human, understand justice, ethics and the good life through noble literature - equipping them to answer the great questions of life – and to help students become powerful thinkers and writers at the service of truth. St. Mary is a parochial school (K-8) in the Archdiocese of Denver under the direction of the Disciples of the Hearts of Jesus and Mary (DCJM) - a religious order originally from Spain, in the service of families, with a charism inspired by St. John Paul II and St. Ignatius of Loyola. St. Mary Catholic School builds flourishing friends of Christ through an educational covenant with teachers, parents, students and priests; and through its Living the Classics curriculum -- students identifying the goodness of humankind, the grandeur of life, and the key virtues by joining in the tradition that shapes their moral imagination, ordains desires, and leads them to a complete life. The educator will foster a love of literature through self-selected reading and guided instruction in curated great books and poetry, and assist the students in recognizing the narrative of their own life through these studies. Developing relationships with both parents and students is paramount to this venture as it creates an opportunity for meaningful guidance in social, spiritual, and personal growth. The successful candidate will: -Possess a deep love for Jesus Christ, demonstrated through a devotion to His Eucharistic presence and an obedience to the Magisterium of the Catholic Church. -Call St. Mary School students and families to be protagonists in salvation history; form students’ moral imaginations to delight in the good, the true, and the beautiful, to the glory of God. -Collaborate closely with DCJM priests in enriching St. Mary School's Catholic identity, and enhancing the school's spiritual environment/formation for students, teachers, and families. -Inspire in students a love for great and classic literature, interpreted through the lens of the Catholic intellectual tradition and the experience of the Universal Church. -Ensure the continuation and flourishing of St. Mary School’s Living the Classics curriculum at the middle school level, rooted in the classical by facilitating in-class Socratic discussion, close reading of Great Books, and clear, powerful writing. -Ensure support for parents and guardians in their role as the primary educators of their children. -Maintain positive relationships with parents, faculty, staff, and students. -Demonstrate exceptional communication skills, including written, verbal, and presentation skills.
