St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic School is seeking a full-time Elementary Classroom Teacher for Math for the 2018-2019 school year. Our school assists parents with the education and formation of children in Truth, Goodness, and Beauty through a Christ-centered environment, challenging academics, and hands-on learning so that each child becomes a disciple of Christ and is prepared to respond to God’s call. Starting in 2018-2019, we will begin implementing Math in Focus (based on Singapore Math). Ideal applicants should be familiar with Math in Focus and/or the principles and pedagogy of Singapore Math, e.g., teaching math through manipulatives, problem solving, and then on a conceptual level so students understand not just how one completes math operations but why. All teachers are expected to provide engaging and active instruction, employing strategies that involve hands-on learning, demonstration, and supervised practice of lessons. A familiarity with classical education and virtue formation is preferred. Along with a love for children, a love for learning, and a liberal arts background, applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree. The candidate should understand how a Catholic worldview permeates the curriculum and instruction, understand the role of the moral imagination to elementary education, and be an intentional disciple of Christ committed to providing a Gospel witness.
