St. David’s School is an independent, coeducational day school in the Episcopal school tradition for students in grades Pre-Kindergarten through 12 with an enrollment of over 620 students. St. David’s seeks a Director of Lower School Musical Education and Choir, who will oversee the development of the Lower School music program with a strong emphasis on choral music. Qualified candidates will be steeped in the Anglican and European choral tradition, well trained as a musician and director, and able to inspire children to love to sing. Together with a second Lower School Music Teacher, the successful candidate will have direct influence on shaping a strong future of choral music at the center of the curriculum, both as a conveyer of content and as an amplification of children’s love of learning. The Director will be responsible for teaching daily music classes and building and growing a Lower School choir program that over time becomes known for its beauty and quality. Five years of experience teaching young singers and directing children’s choirs, a master’s degree or higher, and proficiency as an organist are preferred. Facilities include a dedicated wing for Lower School Music, a 256-seat Performing Arts Center, and the beautiful All Saints Chapel, which features a 243-pipe organ, built by the Wicks Organ Company (Opus 6384) for St. David’s School. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and leading one school choral performance per semester and serving as an occasional accompanist during chapel services.
