St. Agatha Academy Middle School History & Literature Full-time 2015-2016 Academic Year St. Agatha Academy is seeking candidates for a position primarily responsible for teaching history and literature in middle school. Successful candidates will have a unique appreciation in the humanities (history and literature) with a genuine interest in utilizing classical teaching methods. A personal and processional commitment to life-long-learning is essential. The Academy offers a collegial environment in which there is an appreciation for the liberal arts and a love of learning. Applicants must be committed to teamwork in support of colleagues, demonstrated classroom management skills, and effective communication skills necessary to encourage student development and parent support. Candidates should have, or be eligible to obtain, a teaching certificate in middle school social studies, history, literature, or grammar. These courses are heavily reliant upon primary texts and Socratic discussions. Strong candidates for this position will should have excellent written and spoken communication skills and the ability to relate historical and literary concepts to students in an authentically Catholic environment.
