Gulf Pointe Academy seeks Third Grade Teacher Overview Gulf Pointe Academy (“GPA”) was founded in 2011 to offer students a classical traditional curriculum in a small class environment. Our curriculum emphasizes reading and history and celebrates Western Civilization and our Christian heritage. From our humble start in 2011 with one kindergarten class of 3 children, we will serve over 80 children in the 2013/2014 school year in pre-k through 3rd grade. GPA will continue to add one grade each year through high school. GPA classrooms are teacher-centered, expectations are defined and children are expected to come to school prepared and ready to learn. GPA teachers foster a love of learning, are compassionate and create a classroom environment that supports each child as an individual with unique interests and needs. The successful GPA teacher has a passion for teaching (and learning!) and believes in the classical tradition as the best way to achieve academic excellence and foster a love of learning in children. Position Requirements 1. Earned a bachelor’s degree or higher, preferably in liberal arts, classical studies, math or science. 2. A passion for classical education and the traditional classroom model. Must have the experience, passion and skills to successfully teach in such a setting. 3. Well-organized, able to handle multiple demands efficiently, and effective at leading and managing a classroom of children. 4. Thoroughly familiarized with GPA’s web site content, curriculum and methodology. Agree and support GPA’s Mission and Values.
