Chesterton Academy of Our Lady of Victory, a Catholic, classical high school in south metro Denver, seeks a dynamic art teacher with a background in the liberal arts to teach its 9th through 11th grade art classes beginning in fall 2021. OLV seeks a part-time art teacher whose love of art is matched by their love of teaching and a desire to help inspire and form students and serve their families in forming life-long disciples of Christ. Teachers must have a passion for a Catholic liberal arts education, and must be able to lead a dialectically driven classroom. The arts play a crucial integrating role in the Chesterton Academy curriculum blending elements of reason and faith. The preferred candidate will be able to teach both art history and studio art. The teacher must be able to introduce students to the basic concepts of representative drawing, that is, careful and systematic observation of the physical world, followed by the faithful translation of those observations into the visual language of drawing in various media. Teachers are expected to demonstrate teaching ability, content excellence, and classroom excellence. The candidate must be a practicing Catholic and willing to take the Oath of Fidelity to the Magisterium. Candidates ideally have previous teaching experience, demonstrate excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills. The position is part-time, beginning August 1, 2021, with a competitive salary based on experience.
