Bishop Machebeuf High School is currently seeking a teacher for the 2022-2023 school year who has fluency in classical Latin to teach all levels of Latin from 9th through 12th grade. The position could also involve courses in an integrated humanities curriculum that employs a Great Books, seminar-style pedagogical approach to literature and history in conjunction with courses in the Trivium. Candidates must have: • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree. • An active personal faith life and involvement in the Catholic Church. • Ability to demonstrate a thorough knowledge of Latin grammar, a facility for prose and poetry translation, and be conversant with Roman literature, history, and culture. • Knowledge of Henle Latin as well as National Latin Exam Standards. • Knowledge of, and educational background in, literature and the Great Books. • A commitment to continued learning and growth as an individual and member of the faculty. Experience working with high school students preferred.
