Part-Time Middle/ High School Religion and Latin Teacher Job Summary The Atonement Catholic Academy is seeking a part-time middle and/or high school religion and Latin teacher for the 2021-2022 school year. The successful candidate would, as a religion teacher, help fulfill the school’s mission by instilling a love for the Faith in students and encouraging a classroom environment centered on charity and community. Essential to supporting this mission, the teacher must have a detailed knowledge of the Catholic faith, the Catechism of the Catholic Church, the history of the Church, as well as a keen knowledge of sacramental, Scriptural, and moral theology. As a Latin teacher, the successful candidate would preferably have a degree in Latin or Classics and knowledge of the grammar-first and grammar-translation method of teaching. The Latin program forms an integral part of the classical Catholic education provided at the Atonement Catholic Academy. Candidates should be experienced teaching at the middle or high school level and committed to Catholic classical education. Responsibilities and Duties • Collaborate with colleagues to coordinate instruction across the curriculum • Hold office hours to meet with students in need of assistance outside of class • Communicate with parents, counselors, administration, and students • Participation in professional development activities sponsored by school and other professional development activities as required • Fulfillment of school duties as assigned • Regular attendance at faculty meetings Minimum Qualifications • Hold a bachelor’s degree in a relevant disciplines • Have experience teaching at the middle or high school level • Be willing to pledge fidelity to the Magisterium of the Catholic Church • Clear a background check • Be a practicing Catholic who strives to live in conformity with the Magisterium of the Roman Catholic Church Salary • Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
